Goodbye Youtube

I'll keep it short and sweet with this one, I'm done with YouTube, for two reasons. I'm not a fan at all of the new age-monitoring system that's being proposed. Even if it doesn't go into effect as written now, it's evident that the platform is heading in a direction I don't want to abide by. This, compounded by the current payment processor fiasco, has made wanting to interact with the highly corporate side of the internet less and less.

The second facet of this is my increasingly unhealthy relationship with media consumption on the platform. It's become mindless scrolling, and I've found everything on the platform to be increasingly sensationalized. I'm also deactivating my Reddit account as we speak, for largely the same reason. For my own mental health, I need to be smarter about the media I consume and where I consume it, and it starts by finally stepping away from the last remnants of social media in my life.

Look out for me elsewhere. I've began writing a text-and-screenshot Let's Play of Metal Gear Solid, and once I've found a place I want to host it, I'll let y'all know. It's back to the forums for me it seems!

As a thanks for taking the time to read my blog, have some cat photos! Emi (left) is a three-ish-year-old Bombay and is the loudest and sweetest baby you can imagine. Dave (right) is a two-ish-year-old cat (being held by my roommate) who it the stupidest cat I've ever met. I love them dearly and I'm glad we rescued them.
